True enough. I go back and forth beween thinking like Thompson that it
was all a phony hoax-to really oversimplify!!!) and Fred Halliday, that
there really were two opposing blocs with deadly consequences for all
concerned whether in hot wars in the periphery or cold wars for us in the
core. Need to reread the Verso anthology on the Thompson "Exterminism..."
piece in NLR.
