I am glad you asked that question. Basically I regard both Brenner and
Wallerstein as dialectically opposed reactions to genuine Marxism, which
never had an issue of "external/internal" polarities. Part of our job is to
re-establish the unity of Marxism over the smoking rubble of all the
academic fakes who stand in relation to the real thing as Penelope's
suitors stand in relation to Odysseus. I, of course, exclude Michael
Perelman, Marty Hart-Landsburg and Michael Keany from this category. And
Paul Phillips on most days.
