I think it is debatable whether the war in Europe had to go beyond the successful establishment of the Normany invasion. What might have been the result of a really open invitation to the Germans to negotiate? ((((((((( CB: Soviet controlled territory post-WWII might have been considerably further west , maybe all of Germany. Largest industrial sections of Germany might have been in a socialist economy. U.S. didn't want that.
