Although I don't understand what exactly is meant above, I
believe it would have been more meaningful if you used the word
"identify" instead of the word "predict". That imperialism may
turn into ultra-imperialism is of course a possibility. But
identifying it as a possibility has nothing to do with predicting
anything.

Just a minor point, or a "tangential" point, as you might have
liked to call it.
