I want to call comrades' attention to http://www.lefthook.org/ that was launched officially yesterday. It was pretty much the brainchild of Mohammad J. Alam, Derek Seidman and Adam Levenstein, 3 of Marxmail's younger subscribers. The home page states:
"Welcome to Left Hook, an online journal formed by American youth on the radical left whose aim is to promote greater discussion, debate, and consciousness among young people in America. Our purpose is to effectively expose, combat, and raise awareness about the inequalities and injustices produced by global capitalism in a relentless and principled manner. We welcome and encourage involvement and contributions from all sections of the radical left, in an atmosphere free of sectarianism and internal strife."
(Mohammad, on a technical note, you can't copy and paste from IE, only Netscape.)
Yesterday Counterpunch featured an interview with Stan Goff by Derek that originated on lefthook. It was also featured as a website of the day. Today's Counterpunch has an article by Michael Schwartz on the California grocery strike that also originates on lefthook.
Michael, like the other contributors, is an activist and a Marxist. The hope of lefthook.org is to act as a pole of attraction for independent Marxist and anticapitalist youth who are looking to transcend sectarianism and dogmatism. (Sort of rings a bell, doesn't it?)
Everybody should visit the site and inform everybody you know about it, particularly young radicals either on the campus or off. I have met and discussed this venture with both Mohammad and Derek and have every confidence that they can make a big difference in the necessary regroupment of revolutionary forces that must precede a socialist revolution in the USA.
I invite the comrades to fill in what I have left out.
