If this was ever true, it is no longer true, except perhaps for Iceland. In
fact, Denmark, Sweden and Norway are way down the list.

As you can see, the highest _reported_ recent rates, out of 76 countries
returning figures there, appear to be in Latin American and ex-Soviet
states, which makes some kind of sense. (Little data there for Africa or
southern Asia.) And  it is also well known there is a big problem with
comparative suicide stats, because of differences in official and social
practices in some countries.
