If th trade unions in the U.S. did little to oppose Bush, how can we expect them to conduct a struggle against Obama?

I suspect that it will only be deepening economic pain that forces people to take action, just as was the case in the 1930s. In that period, the industrial unions were vessels for struggle but only partially so because the CP was determined to back FDR to the hilt. At least FDR pushed through some genuine reforms. It will soon become obvious that Obama has no interest in any kind of real reforms. He will tell workers that we can't afford genuine reforms because too much money is required to overcome the financial crisis.

Eventually, workers might get sick and tired of these excuses. I hope sooner than later.
