I am certainly pleased at the outcome, but I wouldn't say class trumped race.
The stats I've seen show a partisan swing among all groups everywhere but in the
Bible Belt, ironically the center of power of the old populist
movement (Texas, Arkansas,
Oklahoma, Kentucky, Appalachia). Something certainly did trump race, but
I wouldn't say class. People, white Southern workers aside, turned to Democrats
to end the war and fix the economy. You don't have to be acting out of class
instinct or consciousness to want the Gov to prevent recession/depression.

To me the election is another depressing reminder of the weakness of class
consciousness in the U.S. Remember BHO ran on bringing us together, not
on afflicting the comfortable.

More work to do.
