Poor Doug, that series of episodes must have left you feeling a little burned. You launch a sincere quest to uncover insights about a subject that, important though it may be, you know to be esoteric to the BTN listening audience. So from the get go the chances of pay off are less than stellar. Then, your first guest proves to be a disappointment who balks at your efforts to draw him out on the details. Still, you continue on with a (highly unusual) follow-up show, devoting another interview to someone who appears to be a more useful source. Then it turns out that said source may be a mouthpiece for the financial industry. Damn, that's a thankless journey.
Ha. Well the first guest was personable, and came up with that great quote - "the potatoes are still in the garden, the fish are still in the sea." Portes, though close to the banks, is still well worth listening to. Someimtes I much prefer bourgeois expertise over left- wing righteousness.
