OK so you slammed a book that you did not read, yet you went on for
paragraphs as if you and declaim
that they ignore British colonialism.  If you are not going to read whole
books, then
why not stick to movies that you have
actually seen and then forward the reviews by people who take the time to
write  thoughtful  or witty ones? I appreciated
the review by Eileen Jones that you recently forwarded.
At any rate, it is not believable that you read the other book by Acemoglu
and Robinson.
For example, by page 10 one reads about British colonialism in South
Africa, and you have nothing
to say about what they actually do lay out about the material determinants
of anti-democratic policies. Except for the railroad
swindle your own comments are focused on different fractions of the
Argentine ruling classes.
I remain bothered that you insist on smearing Marx's name  by associating
it with the book reviews that you write.
