I agree. But in terms of influencing public opinion and official opinion in
the UK, it would be a really good idea to remind them what kind of
precedent they are setting. An interview with a Chinese or Cuban diplomat
or someone from another nation unpopular with the UK elites would remind
them of this. It would hit public opinion and elite opinion at the same
time. We should do everything. But any news organization that published in
London on a daily basis (whether print, audio or video) has an opportunity
for intervention that the rest of us don't have - and should use it.
