The Carrolian left will exist if/when and only if/when Carrol says so. It's *his* abstraction and, under the Constitution of the United States of America, he's totally entitled to it. Now, the rest of us can only take part of -- or deal with -- the "historically existing," the "actually existing" left, or whichever name we may choose for it.
