That's about right. He just nationalized the leading Wandervogel groups into 
the Hitler Youth. Instead of religious teaching of any sort, they had 
military practice and they were the entrance requirement for the state 
apprenticeship schools in the trades. I know that from a carpenter I worked 
with from Germany who went  through German apprenticeship school. He barely 
skated out of the military at the end of the war at fourteen or fifteen, 
finished under the Russians, and immigrated to the west. This guy was funny 
and cynical and naive and sophisticated in a weird mix I've rarely seen...
