Why are you surprised by this? It is the Narcissism of Petty Differences, which is on glorious display on PEN-L pretty much all the time. You see the same thing for instance in discussions of health-care, where we often see harsh criticisms of "bourgeois liberals", whereas in reality, liberals like Joseph Stiglitz or Paul Krugman - favor the exact same thing as any socialist - an universal single-payer health-care system. The main problem with mainstream organizations - environmental, education, communication, healthcare whatever - apparently is that they do not advocate for the abolition of private property. -raghu.
