 From the first sentence of Grover Furr's article cited above:

"Robert Conquest, after Leon Trotsky arguably the chief anticommunist 
and anti-Stalin propagandist of the 20th century, has died."

Actually, Trotsky was killed by Stalin because he defended communism. 
Communism can only be built through the democratic control not over the 
means of production but over the workers state. In the early days of the 
Soviet republic, workers debated domestic and foreign policies. They 
organized themselves into factions, supporting the Left Opposition or 
other blocs. Stalin was the executioner of the revolution, abrogating 
these rights and turning the USSR into a police state. Most people on 
the left understand this. It is only freaks like Grover Furr who believe 
otherwise.
