CB: Well , "witch hunt" is like what happened in Salem way back when, which
is not very much like what is going on at UCLA. Is somebody about to be
hanged or burned at the stake for expressing liberal opinons at the
university ?

No. In fact, not a single professor has been fired for their political
opinions in a very long time, let alone sent to prison. Ward Churchill is
still at U. of Colorado. It is important to confront the redbaiters
whenever they appear, but we should not exaggerate their power.

Didn't Apartheid fascism or Chilean fascism include some witchhunts in
university class rooms, witchunting out left professors ? Was the only
fascism in history in Germany in the thirties and forties ?

In Chile, they didn't witch-hunt radical professors. They came to their
houses in the dead of night and took them to prisons where they were
tortured and/or murdered. This is not happening in the USA. It is not
likely to happen because there is no radical labor movement as there was in
Chile. Workers are by and large politically uninvolved. There is no need to
repress people who are not challenging the system.
