Business Venezuela to send India 2 mln bbls crude per month http://www.ndtvprofit.com/homepage/news.asp?id=244368 April 11, 2006 CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA on Monday said it has agreed to send 2 million barrels of oil per month to India as part of an effort by President Hugo Chavez to diversify Venezuela's oil markets. PDVSA said in a statement that the move will help sell "excess production in the eastern region" as well as boost the activity of the storage and tanker loading dock at the port of Jose. The company in early February sent a 1 million barrel shipment of Merey crude to India, and sent another shipment totaling 2 million barrels on April 5. Left-winger Chavez is seeking to widen Venezuela's oil sales to reduce dependence on the United States. The U.S. Department of Energy indicates that Venezuela is currently the fourth largest supplier of crude oil to the U.S., providing some 1.2 million barrels per day to the world's largest economy.
