(1) in order to get us to pay when we use "their" internet, now there
are pop-up ads that talk to you. (Unplug those speakers from your PC
or Mac!)

(2) I tried to "rip" songs from two CDs (by the Dixie Chix and
Broooce) so I could play them on my MP3 player. The CDs wouldn't let
me rip the first song on each CD. It seems we have a new
copy-protection scheme.

(3) Michael Perelman's book MANUFACTUING DISCONTENT: THE TRAP OF
INDIVIDUALISM IN CORPORATE SOCIETY (Pluto, 2005) costs $25.95 for a
paperback edition, about 12 1/2 US cents per page.
