To be fair to Gore, he puts a big emphasis on the need to change
politics and policy. For example, he shows a photo of the border area
between Haiti and the Dominican Republic (brown on one side, green on
the other) and asserts that the difference in results is due to
politics and policy.

Of course, that politics and policy involves electing Gore (or someone
like him). Standard DP politics.

Tom Friedman is getting in the act as well, it seems. His own documentary
"Addicted to Oil" airs on the Discovery Channel this Saturday at 10pm and
he has an op-ed piece on the impact of global warming in Peru today that
might have appeared in Znet. I plan to watch the show myself. Friedman's
problem, as I pointed out to Marvin, is that he is caught in a
contradiction. He pushes for rapid capitalist growth but is disturbed by
the environmental consequences. As the crisis deepens, we can expect a lot
more of this.
