So what is the purpose of the Israeli attacks against the Lebanese military if they expect them to control Hezbollah in the south? Anyway most commentators do not think that the Lebanese military has the power to do that.
As long as the Israeli attacks lead many Lebanese blame Hezbollah for bringing them on Lebanon and provoke a civil war in Lebanon, pitting Hezbollah against others, it will keep Hezbollah busy, distracted from Israel, or so Tel Aviv hopes, I think. A bigger hope of Tel Aviv is that Washington, the EU, etc. will act more forcefully against Iran and Syria.
