I enjoyed seeing Daniel's picture. I should also mention that the US does not do any real research into problems that GM might create. Led by that great American Dan Quayle, it was decided that GM foods were no different from non-GM foods. Marc Lappe, who was one of the brightest people I have ever known, published research on the nutritional deficiencies of GM soy.
A very interesting book is Smith, Jeffrey M. 2003. Seeds of Deception: Exposing Industry and Government Lies about the Safety of the Genetically Engineered Foods (Fairfield, IA: Yes! Books). Regarding Quayle, did anybody catch that Charles Barkely defined himself as an ex-republican, calling them crazy, while disapproving of Quayle's behavior? http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix/bad_vibes_over_quayle_exit_pagesix_.htm -- Michael Perelman Economics Department California State University Chico, CA 95929 Tel. 530-898-5321 E-Mail michael at ecst.csuchico.edu
