I've try to shut this down before without success, but I want to become more consistent. As I mentioned yesterday, around probably has some progressive aspects and the current president probably has some desirable policies. At the same time, Iran also is a theocratic state in which probably no one on the list would flourish.
I wouldn't mind learning positive aspects about Iran. Unfortunately, the threads have either posed a vision of Iran as a beacon of progressive virtues or as a thoroughly oppressive dictatorship. From what I learned from my Iranian friends, I would lean closer toward the latter, but I am not dogmatic about the matter. I'm not getting the feeling of dialogue about the subject. People are writing out of conviction rather than entering into a dialogue that will lead to better understanding. I think we would do well to drop the subject for a while. -- Michael Perelman Economics Department California State University Chico, CA 95929 Tel. 530-898-5321 E-Mail michael at ecst.csuchico.edu michaelperelman.wordpress.com
