HARSH REALITIES IMPINGE ON EARLY PROMISE

"...But in the past few months many claims made for biofuels
have been shown to be out of touch with reality. The first-
generation biofuels, grain ethanol and biodiesel, are costly,
often of questionable environmental merit, and cannot replace
a fraction of world demand for oil.

Brazilian ethanol from sugarcane, a cheaper and cleaner
althernative, is viable domestically but held back by trade
barriers....."

Of course the sugarcane to ethanol production process only
increases the power of latifundismo in Brazil, and there is
no poverty like the poverty generated by sugarcane...

It's all about cash, that mean green. The peak issue
is that of the rate of return on investment.
