This discussion of no_plan work and fixing other testing functions reminds me that creating a new testing module (TAP::Tests) would still be useful. We could incorporate our new thoughts on how to handle testing and not have to worry as much about backwards compatibility with testing modules, only with TAP itself. This would also be a nice development path for TAP 2.0. In fact, I wouldn't mind a grant proposal being submitted to the grant committee for such work and if it's a reasonable proposal (preferably with enough people on this list giving it a ++), I'd be likely to vote to approve funding for such work, though I can't speak for the rest of the grant committee. This would be the next logical step in our work to improve Perl's testing tools.
