does your Exchange Site have a connector for SMTP mail? Does this connector have "*" as the Address space to allow any internet addresses through it?

If you have any doubts, why not try and send manual SMTP mail by Telneting onto the Exchange Server that has the SMTP gateway on it on Port 25. If you get a connection, type HELO and see if you get a 250 OK response back.

Exchange (at least as of 5.5) most certainly complies with SMTP standards. What, exactly, are you trying to do?

I don't understand your comment about the "global address book". Every mail recipient defined in exchange has the capability of having an SMTP address assigned to it. If you send SMTP mail to that address, the mail should go to the recipient.

I send mail to Exchange recipients every day via the Net::SMTP module.

Hi All

I am facing a bit of a problem!

I have sent emails from perl scripts in the past via SMTP servers,
this works fine using several different modules.

I have tried the same techniques on my system at work where via
Microsoft Exchange server (company standard), it only works
when the TO address is in the global address book, otherwise
the post is bounced by the server.

I am told that Microsoft Exchange does not adhere to the SMTP
protocol and that is why it doesn't work. Anyone know how to get
round this?
