Nope. No reason - so long as it's clear that autobox doesn't autobless...
Incidentally, there's nothing magical or special about SCALAR, ARRAY, HASH and CODE. You're kind of tacitly encouraged by the weight of counterexample in the POD to use your own package names, or at least your own namespace.
