Except that last time I read, named parameters are always optional. So, if John wants perl to carp when any of the name, age, or id is unspecified, he's back to manually checking the parameters at run-time. Maybe that's a feature. -Scott -- Jonathan Scott Duff [EMAIL PROTECTED]
