I had the following settings on the spreadsheet

Edit option: Allow anyone to edit (no sign-in required)
Visibility option: Anyone who has the link can access. No sign-in required.

Yet, it would sometimes ask folks to log in first. I have changed the
Visibility option to

Visibility option: Anyone on the Internet can find and access. No
sign-in required.

I have tested it with a couple of browsers while not logged in, and
have been able to edit the spreadsheet. Please try again. If you still
have difficulty, just email me the following off-list

place: <city>, <province|state>, <country>
discipline: <?>
latitude: <decimal deg>
longitude: <decimal deg>
