Hello
in the "bird" file , changing  sub hz(){ 44100 }  to 
  sub hz(){ 88200 }  
  seems solves the problem,  the 'cassins-kingbird'  and the 'american-widgeon' 
 now can produce a sound on windows xp. i will investigate the other sounds.
