Hi,
I will need to select a linux distribution for desktop.
I make an extensive use of Linux for servers (mainly CentOS for products and
Debian for services) but minimal for desktop.
Ubuntu could work but there are some oddities as with others.

Curious Fabio. Did you follow the steps that I outlined in the link I had sent
to you earlier? Also, is your Ubuntu set to receive backports and proposed
updates? My 11.04 is only selecting the released patches and it shows that
libplotd.so in the /usr/lib/libplplotd.so.9 and /usr/lib/libplplotd.so.9.7.0.
Ubuntu 11.04 only had 2.4.7 in the apt-get repo, so you must have done a CPAN
upgrade after the apt-get. I haven't tried that yet on my Ubuntu 11.04 machine.

Hi,
this is the string:
Loaded PDL v2.4.9_993 (supports bad values)

In any case this Ubuntu seems more a problem than a solution.

I will think at move to CentOS, as I have one ready.

Thanks

TriD is a binary module and needs to be compiled
for the version of PDL you have. I would be *very*
surprised if you apt-get package version was current
with PDL-2.4.9_993 since it hasn't even been officially
released yet.

In general, you can have problems with compiling
PDL if you have more than one version in your perl
and executable/library paths. In this case, I recommend
that you install the perl OpenGL module (0.65 or later)
and then try the build from source again.

Also, please see the BUGS file in the PDL distribution
for the information you need to include in problem
reports and discussions.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi,
I am experiencing this problem:

PDL::Graphics::TriD::Rout needs to be recompiled against the newly installed
PDL at /usr/lib/perl/5.10/DynaLoader.pm line 215, <DATA> line 387.

I had some problem installing from source, and then this using the apt-get.

The system is Ubuntu 11.04 and the PDL is 993 get from apt-get.

Any idea?

Thanks
