Yes, Leptoglossus occidentalis. I remembered reported damage from this insect. Not necessarily harmless. Sarah L. Bates. 2005. Damage to common plumbing materials caused by overwintering Leptoglossus occidentalis (Hemiptera: Coreidae). Can. Entomol. Vol. 137:492-496.

Hello Everyone, Today I learned of the "Kissing Bug"- I had never heard of that one before. It was brought to me by a staff member that found it in a "locker room/changing room type area" (he killed it, so sorry about how it is a little mangled in the pictures). He was concerned it might be a Kissing Bug, and told me they can be potentially harmful to people if that's what it is. As far as we know this is the only one that has been seen in the area. Even if the species can't be officially confirmed from these pictures, it would be nice if someone could see something enough to rule out Kissing Bug as a potential match. It's about 3/4" (head to abdomen), 1 1/8" (antene to abdomen). Found indoors in Minnesota. Any guesses? Thanks! -Todd -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Museumpests" group.
