Adie,

Indeed! Any creature that wanders inside may pose some risk to the collection.
If they don’t damage accessions directly, they (or their carcasses) may attract
and nourish those pests that may then look lovingly at artifacts. The ‘outdoor’
pests that are so commonly found are doing a great service. They’re basically
screaming ‘Mind the Gap’ (whether that be an open or poorly sealing door,
window or other portal.

I’ve sorry you’re furloughed. I argue that pest managers are essential workers.
Let down your guard now and havoc may result. ‘Whilst the cats away….’

I’m also trying to take advantage of this public health stimulated downtime.
This is a good time to consider enacting long-overdue exclusion and mitigation
efforts… if they can be done safely for workers, and if you can convince
decision-makers to spend limited funds.

Stay safe and best regards,
Rich

Hi folks
Working through my IPM data for the last year, it occurs to me that some
species of insect, whilst not particularly damaging to pests, are being eaten
by other pest species and that these are contributing to the pest numbers
Is this something we should be considering?
Are there pest species in this context that we should be more wary of

12.jpg is a weevil, possibly an Otiorhynchus species - a plant pest, but not a
threat to buildings or collections.

Eliza,

Picture 19...looks like an early instar cockroach, but I could only guess as to
