I’m guessing they’re considerably larger than fruit flies or drain flies, and are about the size of a house fly or cluster fly. They could be bleached by the sun, or they may actually be a lighter color. It is a pity we can’t see these more clearly. I wonder if they might be a yellow dung fly, Scathophaga stercoraria or a close relative. If the flies found a way in, there should be a way to sample them. If it can be safely accomplished, a roofer might use a small vacuum cleaner to suction up a few of the offending beasts. That could solve the mystery as to ‘who’, but it won’t necessarily reveal ‘why’ or ‘how’.

I’m concerned how they got in sandwiched between the glass and we have a collection in the store below which may be at risk Regards Adie Mr Adrian (Adie) Doyle Integrated Pest Management Manager British Museum Property & Facilities Management Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3DG Work Mobile 07813 363292 Current work pattern is varied but I will be contactable via E mail or Teams Email: ado...@britishmuseum.org<mailto:ado...@britishmuseum.org> The British Museum Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3DG britishmuseum.org<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__gbr01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com_-3Furl-3Dhttp-253A-252F-252Fwww.britishmuseum.org-252F-26data-3D02-257C01-257C-257C7a9ff9c7e2464696ab3908d7629aa629-257Ca7f588e4c7964ce2b525daac11557e97-257C0-257C0-257C637086288666858073-26sdata-3DFVkPCmec5C-252BmguWcS52ubg0CqaXxxfIrpeEoFIPj4Z0-253D-26reserved-3D0&d=DwMFaQ&c=WO-RGvefibhHBZq3fL85hQ&r=GO7C3XN3WgFy2IP-bFBbnUs_CYntqj57Dprtl40-_KE&m=bhuZ05DTNJd3EldFJsaP5RSzI6Z1AhDhP9srfQjT4x4&s=I_EIgWpP-ojklqT7DY4PEKW2jDum6AC9y6Xbbf8PisM&e=> The security classification for this message is OFFICIAL Please see our privacy policy<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__gbr01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com_-3Furl-3Dhttps-253A-252F-252Fwww.britishmuseum.org-252Fabout-5Fthis-5Fsite-252Fterms-5Fof-5Fuse-252Fprivacy-5Fpolicy.aspx-26data-3D02-257C01-257C-257C7a9ff9c7e2464696ab3908d7629aa629-257Ca7f588e4c7964ce2b525daac11557e97-257C0-257C0-257C637086288666858073-26sdata-3Dyo3WGYN18NLhIEgWwe1fgs0yqoBQJQi3IcLhtPreutc-253D-26reserved-3D0&d=DwMFaQ&c=WO-RGvefibhHBZq3fL85hQ&r=GO7C3XN3WgFy2IP-bFBbnUs_CYntqj57Dprtl40-_KE&m=bhuZ05DTNJd3EldFJsaP5RSzI6Z1AhDhP9srfQjT4x4&s=GC5jCuPp89vI_DbXjSoBv1n_4FSbrTq55iiX9FBmyZM&e=> for more details about how we use your personal data and about your rights or contact the Museum’s Data Protection Officer at i...@britishmuseum.org<mailto:i...@britishmuseum.org>, telephone 020 323 8000 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MuseumPests" group.
