The Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) http://www.spnhc.org is always looking for papers for their peer-reviewed journal Collection Forum. .. . . Articles for Collection Forum are six to 30 pages double-spaced (approximately 7500 words) including abstract and literature cited, plus figures and tables. They may include original contributions to the literature or significant review articles dealing with aspects of the development and preservation of natural history collections.
Contributions may include, but are not restricted to, reports of research and methodologies for the collection, preparation, conservation, storage, and documentation of specimens, and discussion of some philosophical, theoretical, and historical aspects of natural history collection management. Case studies that serve to document or augment a philosophy, methodology, or research activity will be considered, but general descriptions of a specific collection or institution are not accepted. Short technical notes describing an innovative technique for preparation or storage will also be considered. .. . . They also publish "how-to" leaflets Questions? Contact the Managing Editor: Jean F. This has been excellent information and would great as a technical insert for the Illinois Association of Museums newsletter, the Illinois Heritage Association newletter, and also as a session at a conference. I have found it very informative and have now purchased cheap, simple cotton balls. Have those of you who are experts thought of writing an article for the journal "Collection"s" or even a book that we could purchase through AAM? This is a complex topic we small museums face and the short information sheets from CCI or Conservogams clearly are not sufficient to cover the topic thoroughly Thanks Ann Ann Wright-Parsons Director, Anthropology Museum Department of Anthropology Northern Illinois University DeKalb, Illinois 60115 Phone-815-753-0230 Fax-815-753-7027 ________________________________ This message, including any attachments, is the property of the City of Elgin.
