This looks like you have a problem witch is unrelated to what you are trying to 
do.  I never understood why "sudo" needs to know the computer name but is dous 
so:  The problem appears that sudo can't find the computer's name with the 
domain name lookup.  The start point for sorting this out is the "Network 
setting" 

I moved away from Ubuntu whan I started getting the same error:  The way I 
aproched the problem was to edit "/etc/resolve" and "/etc/named" and 
"/etc/hostname"  witch is what worked in slackware and other distros but as 
soon as I rebooted ubuntu reset theses files braking the fix witch gote relay 
fustratting.  I hate computer OS's that deside thay know better then me!!!


That all sead:

I would say the first step is to turn off the network and try the command then 
if that works then you have confarmed that it's a problem with the DNS on the 
network you are attached to.
