Greetings! Total newbie here, but I was discussing on another list, I am running version 9.15 on my Mac, I see there’s an update to version 9.16, and AI keeps telling me there’s a “Check for Updates…” in the pgAdmin 4 menu, but it’s not there. And there is no Check for Updates anywhere else too. Then I’m told that the pgAdmin 4 will check itself for updates, but it does not tell me about the latest update. I tried to update it myself and wound up wrecking the install and had to start over.
I’m following the lesson set from W3 Schools, which utilizes the EDB install package. I’m running an Intel iMac with the Sequoia 15.7.7 OS (latest version), and PostgreSQL installs by default in the Library/PostgreSQL/18/ directory. The updated pgAdmin 4 (9.16) wants to be put into the Applications folder, and it goes downhill from there. I tried installing it over the app in the Library folder, but got the same result, an error message that was pretty complex. I tried AI to remedy the situation which in the end became a suggestion to reinstall it - crash and burn... So I know it’s not do or die necessary, but I would like to know how it’s done. As a student (in my 60’s) I’m trying to learn something I’ve wanted to for along time… Thanks for reading! WCH
