Hi J. Carlos,

Thanks, indeed that is what I was gonna do... I think I will download the lenny source and make some changes on the debian files to build an etch-backports.....

In regards to online-recovery, although I have not really be able to use it due to DB sizes and lot of TPS, I have sometime ago created debian files that creates two deb packages one for pgpool-II and one for pgpool-II-onlinerecovery. I need to look around to see where those are if you are interested.

Hi, Marcelo! I don't know the answer as I didn't test..

But, as an idea, you can try to download postgresql-8.4's sources, compile it on etch, then compile pgpool linked to 8.4 libs..

Anyway, I think you will have to download/compile/install pgpool on your lenny in order to install the 'online recovery' function.. See: http://pgpool.projects.postgresql.org/pgpool-II/doc/pgpool-en.html#online-recovery (Installation of C language function)

Unfortunately, I dont know the way to install this function not having to install/compile pgpool in every backend (thus having to install postgresql developing packages).

Has anyone tried to have a pgpool-II 2.2.2 setup on a debian etch linked against 8.3.X libs and the backend nodes on debian lenny with pg 8.4 ? Any issues ?

Unfortunately my pgpool-II node must be on etch due to other unrelated packages
