Hello Rei,

I understand the client’s constraints, but deploying PostgreSQL 11 into a new
production environment in late 2026 is frankly astonishing.

PostgreSQL 11 reached end-of-life in November 2023. That’s nearly three years
without security updates, with at least another year planned. Whether it runs
on Windows Server 2019 is hardly the most pressing concern.

In an era of increasingly sophisticated, AI-assisted vulnerability discovery
and exploitation, deliberately introducing unsupported infrastructure seems
remarkably negligent. Calling it “survival mode” doesn’t make it a security
strategy.

What makes this particularly surprising is that OpenText markets itself as a
cybersecurity and AI expert, despite having its own history of security
incidents. One would expect such a company to know better.

And the cherry on top? Your corporate email signature proudly proclaims: “Be
deserving of TRUST.”

Perhaps it needs a small disclaimer:

“Be deserving of TRUST. Vulnerabilities included. Upgrades coming next year.”

The irony is so spectacular that it practically deserves its own CVE identifier.

Jokes aside, if Intelligent Viewing 22.4 genuinely requires PostgreSQL 11,
that’s a vendor lifecycle problem that should be escalated, not passed on to
the customer as a security liability.

Historical compatibility is not security certification. “It works” does not
mean “it is safe.”

The PostgreSQL community ended support for a reason. Perhaps OpenText should
take that decision as seriously as its own cybersecurity marketing.

Best regards

  Ömer Güven
