Actually, the orinoco_cs driver is quiet reliable, as long as you don't use it with a LinkSys card. I have a wpc11 v2.5 that is now sitting in
In case I wasn't clear, when I said "not reliable" I was referring to the orinoco_cs driver used with the linksys wpc11 v3, only. I have no idea how reliable/unreliable it is with other cards.
my parts bin because it tended to be extremely unreliable under both windows xp and rh7.3 and 8.0 using both the default drivers and the linux-wlan-ng drivers. I picked up a compaq hnw-100 (basically a rebadged orinoco card) for $25 on clearance and it works almost magically. My recommendation would be to dump the linksys card on ebay and find an orinoco gold.
I have no experience with the linksys wpc11 v2.5, but the v3 card seems very reliable with the linux-wlan-ng driver (at least, with version 0.1.16-pre9 -- I haven't tried any other verions of this driver).
If you have a linksys wpc11 v3, and you are having troubles with the orinoco_cs driver, then I recommend you try the linux-wlan-ng driver instead. I am quite pleased with my linksys card, now that I am using the linux-wlan-ng driver, and I have no plans to dump it.
Cheers, Larry
