Ya know, the one thing I really can;t figure out is, let's say he CAN sell it 
at auction for 5 mil. Even with fees he'd walkaway with more than 2 or 3 
million. What's wrong with that, especially because he supposedly got it free 
from his grandad, or whoever. This whole deal smells funny.

To list an item with starting bid of $250,000 and Buy It Now of $500,000 
doesn't cost much if item does not sell.
The insertion fee would be $4.80, a reserve price fee is $50, and a Buy It 
Now for 1/2 million costs only 25 cents.
However, if it does sell (not likely in this case), the Final Value Fee 
would be something like $3,768. I think these numbers
are correct, but I'm not sure as I have never listed or sold an item quite 
this expensive :)
