If you're just tracking libxml's tree, why do it at all? I fail to see
the benefit here.

IMHO, having two ways to accomplish the same thing seems like either
duplicated effort or overcomplication.

Just because some people do XML development on a daily basis is no reason
libxml should be bundled with every one of their favorite technologies.

That is a poor goal at best, and a disaster at worst. IMO code quality is
increased with code modularity. Let libxml do its job and PHP do its own
job. I still fail to see what benefit you perceive. There will always
be companies willing to buy and sell software like PHP (my employer*
sells products that include PHP). I think these companies provide great
benefit to their customers.


Although I haven't read this entire thread nor heard all sides of
the argument, at this point I'm -0.9 to the whole idea. Unless
there is a *very* good reason for including 3rd party libraries
in PHP, I beleve that should be strongly avoided.
