I always go to the group first, to see what's ticking, and to search and see what else has been said about a particular topic before bringing it up.
It isn't just a mailing list - if it were, I most likely wouldn't use it at all, I get too much email as it is. And an email client is likely just as bad at this as the web interface at Google groups, so. Why don't we move to something like Flarum that is actually supported and maintained by the PHP community?
