My black friends here at work tell me that 'cracker' is indeed the equivalent of the n-word. In fact, they tell me that they were warned by their parents not to use it and punished severely if they did. I'm talking about colleagues in their late 30's early 40's, so it may be a generational artifact. -- -David.
