ok!
I changed the value to 128MB on php.ini, restarted everything but still, it
seems to have no effect... the limit on the installer still appears as 16MB
I have installed a lot on mysql and php packages and now ONLY the last item
(save path) is red with "unset, UNWRITABLE" value.
I'll keep looking to see how I cant change this memory limit.
I'm using OPENSuse 10.2.

Ahh, ok!
After you make the appropriate changes to your php.ini, be sure to restart
apache.
Make sure everything is green on that first page prior to advancing.
It is not likely (but possible) that you would need to change my.cnf, but
if you do, you will need to restart mysql for the changes to take effect as
well.
P.S. I have customers using this with 30,000 devices, heh heh
P.P.S. Copying the lists to be sure other can learn from this as well,
