Hello all. I have just uploaded a new release of Pyrite Publisher,
version 1.99.3, to my website at <http://www.pyrite.org/>. This
release adds zTXT output format, with full support for zTXT features
like annotations and per-document preferences. (zTXT is a
non-proprietary high-compression replacement for Doc that is used by
the GPLed Gutenpalm <http://gutenpalm.sourceforge.net/> reader.)

In case you are not familiar with Pyrite Publisher, it is an open
source command-line document converter written (almost) entirely in
Python. (The "almost" is a small C module to speed up Doc
compression.) It is built around an extensible plugin architecture to
make it possible to add more input and output formats in the future.
Some of its features include:

   - input from http/ftp URLs or local files
   - automatic un-gzip of input
   - automatic behavior adjustment according to input mime-type
   - HTML parsing with rich text markup if the output format supports
     it
   - markup support for TealDoc and RichReader
   - embedded nroff-like tags to add markup to plain text files
   - bookmark/annotation support
   - output to Doc or zTXT databases

The ztxt and Doc low-level support is separable for use in other
Python programs; feel free to ask for help with this if necessary.

Enjoy,
--Rob
