Dear Murray

You can buy a paper safe which is a black plastic box with light traps that
can be opened and shut or do as I have done on occassions which is to make
one out of black foam core. You just have to measure accurately, create the
light traps and you have a servicable light-tight paper safe with easy
access to your film. Because film is so much more sensitive to light than
paper you can store the box inside another one if left for long periods.
You can have fun designing you own paper safe. The thing is to cut
accurately and use pva adhesive to stick the parts together. Then reinforce
and trim with black ducking tape (a very sticky tape with ripstock webbing
in the plastic matrix)
