There are 2 useful Polaroid film holders (besides the 8x10)
1. the 405 which takes the 31/4 x 41/4 film packs
2. the 545i (or just 545) which takes the 4x5 individual sheets.
Do Not buy a 500 or a 550. The 500 just plain doesn't work well anymore (yes
I know some people can do it but...) and the 550 4x5 film pack has been
discontinued.

The 545 can usually be had for 40-65$US though if you pay attention you can
get lucky.
The 405 about the same price.

The 3x4 film packs are always available on Ebay pretty cheaply. The only
disadvantage is you can't change film types in the middle of the pack w/o
losing film.

Have a great holiday
andy

Subject: [pinhole-discussion] 4 x 5 film holder

Hello:

I haven't been able to find a reasonablly priced 4 x 5 filmholder on eBay -
I quit at a certain price or someone else just wants them worse than I do.

Can someone please explain the similarity or difference between 'film
holder' like Lisco, Graflex, etc. and so called 'film packs'? Physical and
operational differences would be nice, and do film packs come in B/W?

I built my own foam core 4 x 5 ish camera (3 little pigs style, just used
whatever stuff I could find) prior to seeing the Stanford U web page but
haven't figured out how the Stanford U project one works with film holders,
or if a generic method would work without an 'official' holder.

Thank you

Murray
