I have recommended the Epson perfection series to a few people. They capapble of a very high resolution for a reasonable price. They all use a transparency adapter (its common to all models). Epson sells the scanner by itself or packages it up with a document feeder (calling it an office scanner) or a transparency adapter( calling it a photoscanner).
With the pricing structure here it is cheaper to buy the scanner and transparency adapters seperately than as one package. If you need really high resolution check out the Epson Perfection series - They sell a number of models with different maximum physical resolution.
