Jeff, That flare you discribe adds a great deal of charm to your pics. I just love it - although it's "officially" a no-no taking pictures into the sun. I do it anyway too, if I feel the results add to the intended effect.
Just curious: how long was the exposure? I have a pic in my gallery with a similar result.
