Hello Phil, Actually the PiTiVi development is pretty active, we have been doing a big amount of work in the backend as we are now using the GStreamer Editing Services[0] instead of doing eveything in python and the new version of the GStreamer API (1.0) . We are also now using the PyGObject intrsopected bindings and we moved to using Gtk3.
You can also check by yourself how active it is at: http://www.ohloh.net/p/pitivi and http://git.gnome.org/browse/pitivi With all those changes going on we are having trouble releasing as we now need to stabalize but we are working hard on it and will release ASAP.
